2025 Winter School

The primary goal of the EXPRESS² Horizon Europe project is to strengthen European democracy through the creation of a new EU social contract that enables participation, deliberation, and decision-making by EU inhabitants.
To achieve this goal, the project proposes an explicit social contract that goes beyond the metaphorical nature and implicit consent typical of social contract theory, allowing EU inhabitants to actively participate, deliberate, and decide on its content. Additionally, the project builds narratives that highlight the benefits of the EU and its social contract, encouraging citizens to engage in deliberation, participation, and decision-making regarding its substance.
The aims of this Winter School were both the dissemination and discussion of the project’s research results and to engage young people and students interested in the topics covered by EXPRESS².
