Co-Creation Workshop on Gender Inequality

On 23 September 2025, the Sabancı University Gender and Women's Studies Center of Excellence (SU Gender) held the EXPRESS2 Co-Creation Workshop online as part of its gender equality research.

The workshop brought together 12 participants, including academics, legal experts, and civil society representatives, from various countries such as Turkey, Bulgaria, Italy, Hungary, and Spain, as well as at the EU level.

It began with a presentation of the preliminary findings on the main disruptions to gender equality and counter-disruptive strategies at the EU and national levels in the countries selected for the research (Italy, Spain, Hungary, Ireland and Turkey).

Open discussions, structured across three sessions, were then held, focusing on the disruptions caused by anti-gender mobilisations, feminist strategies for advocacy in shrinking civic spaces, and the EU’s role in promoting an inclusive and democratic social contract. Participants shared strategies, experiences, and recommendations that will inform EXPRESS2’s ongoing research and policy outputs directly.
