EXPRESS2 Co-creation workshop explores EU Social Contract development and dissemination strategies

On 25 November, the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona hosted the EXPRESS2 Co-Creation Workshop as part of WP2 (Theoretical Framework). The aim of this event was to discuss the research results of WP2, deliberate on the draft EU Social Contract and explore dissemination strategies to involve EU citizens in its development with relevant stakeholders. The workshop, originally scheduled for 90 minutes, was extended to almost two hours due to active participation.

During the first part of the workshop, Dr Antoni Abat i Ninet, WP2 leader, presented two proposed formats for the contract: a contractual framework with enumerated clauses and a more open-ended declaration. Similarly, Maja Bobić, WP3 leader, outlined dissemination strategies, including stakeholder mapping, tailored events and a narrative campaign targeting 2.5 million EU citizens. This part of the workshop included a debate on how to optimise the format of the draft to improve public engagement. The workshop concluded that an open draft would best facilitate inclusive feedback and guide the final version, which will be presented at the project's final conference in Brussels as a recommendation to the European institutions.
