EXPRESS<sp>2</sp> midterm conference: crafting a new EU Social Contract together

The EXPRESS2 Midterm Conference will take place on 28–29 May 2025 in Istanbul, Turkey, hosted by the Gender and Women’s Studies Center of Excellence at Sabancı University. Under the title “Crafting a New EU Social Contract Together,” the event will bring together researchers, legal scholars, policy experts and civil society actors to examine how the EU can respond to today’s disruptive challenges through a renewed, inclusive and participatory social contract.

Held over two days, the conference will feature keynote speaker Prof. Meltem Müftüler-Baç (Sabancı University), four thematic panels and a special session dedicated to the EXPRESS2 Young Scholars Contest. Topics will range from democratic governance to climate change, digitalisation, gender equality, trust, and rule of law. Speakers from ten partner institutions across Europe will share insights from their latest research, including early draft of a proposed EU social contract.

The event will be held in hybrid format and conducted entirely in English. Participation is free but registration is required via this link: https://bit.ly/EXPRESS2MTConference.
