EXPRESS² Opens Contest for Students to Reimagine Europe’s Social Contract
Students invited to submit ideas and present at international EXPRESS² Midterm Conference in Istanbul
Winners to be published in the open-access academic EXPRESS² Edited Monograph
The EXPRESS² project has officially launched its Young Scholars Contest, inviting undergraduate and postgraduate students to contribute fresh perspectives on how Europe should renew its social contract. This unique opportunity provides a platform for young academics to engage in real dialog with international experts and influence the future of European policy-making.
Students selected through the competition will have the opportunity to present their research at the EXPRESS² Midterm Conference, which will take place virtually in Istanbul on May 29, 2025. The event will bring together scholars, policymakers, and stakeholders to reflect on building a more democratic, inclusive, and sustainable European Union.
What to Submit and How
Students are invited to submit a 300-word abstract in English on topics relevant to the EXPRESS² project, such as renewing the European Social Contract, enhancing democratic participation in EU policy-making, or the impact of major societal disruptions and challenges such as climate change, digitalization, and inequality.
Abstracts must include a title, objectives, methodology, expected results and 3-5 keywords. All undergraduate and graduate students are eligible to apply, and while attendance at the EXPRESS² Winter School is not required, it is strongly encouraged.
The deadline for submissions is May 15, 2025, via the project's official online form.
Recognition and Publication
Submissions will be evaluated by a panel of EXPRESS² coordinators and advisory board members based on originality, relevance, clarity, and methodological soundness. Selected students will present their work at the Virtual Midterm Conference and may be published in the EXPRESS² Edited Monograph, an open-access scholarly volume with expert contributions.
All finalists will receive a certificate of participation, offering valuable academic recognition and the chance to interact with leading scholars and policymakers.
